RIFTSHOT ARENA: free 3D arena shooter in your browser

RIFTSHOT ARENA is a fast, free-to-play first-person shooter built with WebGL. It runs in any modern browser on PC, Mac, Linux, Chromebook, Android and iOS, with no download or install. Play online against other players, queue with a party of up to four, or practise offline against up to seven bots.

The Rift

A dimensional tear has opened over the old industrial yards. Operatives are sent through it to hold ground in the arenas on the other side, using kinetic weapons and Rift-tuned movement rigs that let them grapple, dash and blink through space. Every arena is built around a burning Rift reactor; fall into it and you are gone.

Game modes

  • Free-for-all: every operative for themselves; first to the kill limit wins.
  • Team Deathmatch: RIFT versus VOID, team kills count.
  • Domination: capture and hold zones A, B and C.
  • Rift Rush: steal the enemy Rift Core and carry it home.
  • Hardpoint: a single rotating objective; hold it to score.
  • Kill Confirmed: eliminations drop tags; collect them to score, deny the enemy's.
  • Rift Ladder: every kill swaps your weapon; a kill with the final weapon wins.

Arenas

  • Rift Yard: an abandoned industrial yard built around an unstable Rift; mixed range, with a pit, a platform and a trench.
  • Ember District: burnt city block, short-to-mid range, a hollow two-storey building and a rooftop catwalk.
  • Blacksite: a sealed underground research facility; close range, corridors and a reactor pit.
  • Frostline: a snowbound relay outpost above a frozen reservoir; mid-to-long range, relay platforms, cabins and an ice basin.

Weapon classes

  • R-7 Riftline: automatic assault rifle, the all-rounder.
  • P-2 Spark: semi-automatic sidearm.
  • V-9 Viper: high fire-rate SMG for close quarters.
  • K-12 Breaker: nine-pellet shotgun.
  • M-4 Marksman: semi-automatic DMR with a magnified optic.
  • S-8 Longshot: five-round sniper rifle; a headshot is lethal.

Power-ups

  • Med kit: restores 50 health. Back after 14 seconds.
  • Overshield: 50 extra shield for 20 seconds. Sits in the middle of every map.
  • Rapid fire: no ammo use and half recoil for 10 seconds.
  • Radar: shows every enemy on the map through walls for 8 seconds.

Patch notes

Update 0.2: The Rift opens

  • A new lobby: your operative stands in front of a live Rift, with the camera moving in on your weapon when you open the Locker and diving into the Rift when you hit Play.
  • Better-looking weapons and lighting, with glowing energy cores and sharper reflections.
  • Shooting feels heavier: kills briefly freeze the frame, damage numbers pop off targets,.
  • Touch controls rebuilt: aiming on phones is faster and more consistent, with separate look and aiming sensitivity.
  • Fixed a black screen some players saw on phones and older graphics cards.
  • Operators are now fully animated, armoured human soldiers that hold their rifle with both hands and aim where they look.
  • Smoother frame rate: lighter effects on mid-range settings and high-resolution screens, and no more periodic stutter.
  • Power-ups on every map: Med kit, Overshield, Rapid fire and Radar. Rift abilities are switched off for now.
  • Sharper picture: the game now renders at full resolution, with anti-aliasing and no blur or grain filters.
  • Phone aiming is now linear and tuned by default: the same swipe always turns the same amount. Kill freezes and camera lean are gone for a cleaner, classic feel.
  • New weapon sounds: every gun type has its own shot, cleaner and punchier, with audible reloads.
  • Smoother on phones: animation work runs once per frame instead of up to three times, and a new Settings screen built for phones, tablets and PCs with clear quality presets.
  • Faster menus and site: the 3D lobby is far lighter on mid-range and mobile devices, menus never render faster than 60 fps, and the lobby idles behind settings panels.
  • Premium soldiers: satin painted armour, smoked-glass visors and detailed kit on every operator, drawn more efficiently than before. Fixed enemies sometimes vanishing at point-blank range.
  • New map: Frostline, a snowbound mountain outpost with falling snow and a frozen reservoir.
  • Every operator now has their own look: Vanguard's heavy armour, Breacher's gas mask and pack, Sentinel's radio and scope, Phantom's hood and cloak.
  • A new hangar lobby with light shafts and a card showing your operator, plus softer, cleaner glow everywhere.
  • Medals: Double Kill, Triple Kill, Rampage, First Blood, Revenge, Long Shot, Close Call and streak rewards.
